Kelly Ryan 4 months agoAbsolutely terrible experience with the Rhode Island Ave Home Depot custom door service. We paid nearly $5,000 for eight “custom” interior doors and received work that was shockingly substandard: one door won’t close properly, one was cut so badly the hollow interior is exposed, one wasn’t painted on the side, and another leaves a large gap above the floor. This is basic quality control — not premium custom work. The process with Home Depot was frustrating from start to finish. After initiating door measurements in late September 2025 and having a contractor measure on October 9, we never received the measurements and had to visit the store ourselves on October 20. Ms. Venice told us to email a quote request, which we did immediately — but after no response, we followed up and still never heard back from her. Ultimately we had to return in person again just to move things forward. During that visit, we literally had to sit beside her to guide her through her office inbox to locate our email and print the quote from her computer. When we finally ordered on October 28, she refused to let us read the agreement before signing--claiming her system wouldn't generate and print the contract until we had completed signing the agreement on a small signature pad. Concerned about this seemingly deceptive tactic, we explicitly asked what resolution they offer if there an issue with the doors. She was clear and insistent when she promised a “100% satisfaction guarantee.” We stressed we needed the doors before Thanksgiving when we hosted out-of-town guests and we were assured we’d be notified promptly when they arrived — yet no one contacted us. Only after three separate store visits did we learn the doors had already been delivered to Home Depot and were just sitting at the store, too late for installation before our guests arrived. The doors were installed December 1, and while the installers themselves were professional and courteous, the purchasing experience overall was disorganized, misleading, and unnecessarily stressful. Customer service since then has been extremely frustrating. Mr. Jason promised follow-up after we sent photos — nothing. Ms. Kim promised a callback — never happened. In person, Ms. Toni and Ms. Angel said they’d help resolve things — even asking if a full refund and door replacement would be sufficient after they went through all their internal processes. Yet the final answer was a flat refusal to fix the situation and an insulting 20% refund offer because they "don't have the doors in front of them." The store’s intentionally deceptive sales practices, product quality, and complete lack of accountability have been unacceptable. Months of chasing answers shouldn’t be required after spending nearly $5,000 on "custom" products. I strongly advise anyone considering custom doors here to look elsewhere.
Jordan Acosta 2 months agoI came here looking for a drill, bits/accessories for the drill, and drywall anchors for hanging a heavy object. I entered the store kind of late on a Friday, about 9:20 PM and they close at 10. At first, I found the drill that I wanted and scanned the QR code to queue up an associate to assist. Alex from Hardware came to help me and provided some of the best customer service I’ve ever received. He asked my what the project was, intended use for current and future, and gave me his recommendation for the drill I wanted. It wasn’t like he was just trying to sell me the most expensive one. He then took me to find the accessory pack that suited my needs and was fair priced - another big help. I then explained the project and he took me to the drywall anchors and brackets (to fasten the anchor to the wall) and a washer for the screw just in case. Alex knew where everything was, was friendly and patient, and made sure I had everything I needed. It was late on a shift on a Friday when the weather is finally warming up in DC, Alex had so much reason to be checked out and ready for his shift to be over. He didn’t have to be so nice but everything about my experience tells me he cares about customer service. I was so apprehensive bc I usually hesitate when it comes to home projects bc just having the right hardware and tools is intimidating, knowing there are servants/helping hands out there like Alex makes me feel better about my home projects. Thank you so much, Alex!
Sophia Pryce 11 months agoThis store usually has my summer staples. So complaints there. Today I was pricing toilets and was surprise to see there were ample choices available. There is plenty of parking but watch out because I’ve received nails in my tires as a result of a visit to this location. The garden center is also pretty well stocked.
Keilia Phillips 3 months agoJust left this store and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly. No body shied away. Staff asked if I needed assistance. But Mary! Mary was amazing. I don't know what department she worked because she answered all my questions. She did not leave me to fend for myself. She was there, pleasant and willing to assist. She deserves all 5 stars.
Treean River 6 months agoI want to extend a big thank you to Sabrinare at the Customer Service desk at Home Depot Store #2583. She was incredibly patient and professional. I had brought in a few items to return and exchange, and she took the time to help me with everything. When I realized I had forgotten my wallet and ID at home, she was very understanding and patient while I went back to get them. Her attitude, kindness, and professionalism made my experience so much easier and less stressful. Thank you, Sabrinare, for going above and beyond. Home Depot is lucky to have you on the team!
